Physically attacked by unseen force while translating the Book of Mormon

In Thailand, Srilaksana Suntarahut went from skepticism to a powerful testimony after reading the Book of Mormon for the first time, saying she learned more about Jesus Christ than she ever had before.

She was physically attacked by an unseen force while translating the Book of Mormon into Thai. S Lakana Sunut was highly educated in Thailand, fluent in English and Thai, and as a child, she had even lived in the palace and raised by the queen. When she was 43 years old, she met missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She bought a copy of the Book of Mormon for050, flipped through it, and set it aside.

But one night, with just a few minutes to spare, she picked it up again. She opened to a random page in Elma, 37, and the moment she started reading, something changed. The power of the book overwhelmed her. Tears filled her eyes. She canceled her plans for that evening, clutched the book to her chest, and ran upstairs. For the first time in her life, she knelt down and prayed. She called God my father and she cried for 20 minutes.

After that, she couldn't put it down. She later said she was learning more about Jesus Christ from this book than she ever had in all her years in Catholic school. She was baptized and not long after that, Silakana was asked to do something nearly impossible. Translate the Book of Mormon into Thai. But there was a problem. Some gospel concepts didn't exist in her language. She especially struggled with one word, priesthood.

So she fasted and prayed. But for over a year, she couldn't find the answer. Until one night, she looked up and saw a hand writing in Thai, the exact word she needed. A word not found in any dictionary. But then came the attack. One night, after hours of translating, an evil presence entered her room. It pinned her down, flipped her onto her stomach, and pressed a crushing weight onto her back.

She screamed but couldn't move. By morning, the pain was unbearable. She couldn't continue until she received a priesthood blessing from Elder Bruce R. Mcconi. And within days, she had enough relief to return to the work. But the trials didn't stop there. Later, after a life-threatening surgery, she lay in bed, unable to speak or sleep, certain she would die. Then suddenly, her door opened and three men dressed in white robes entered.

They stood beside her bed, placed their hands on her head, and began to speak. We, the elders of Israel, she said it felt like electricity filled her body. She was overcome with joy, and when she woke up, she could speak again. 3 days later, she was back translating the Book of Mormon until finally in 1976, the Book of Mormon was printed in Thai for the very first time. Today, she is known as the mother of the church in Thailand.

The Lord doesn't ask anything of us without preparing a way for us to accomplish the task.
